About this campaign

Mr. Blondie arrived with his mom and sister. He had not even been born yet. Someone had abandoned his mom and sister in our neighborhood and they found their way to to our house. My wife put out some food and we tried to find if they were lost. When the weather turned cold, we brought mama and sister in. They stayed in our back room. On the morning of September 20, 2017, Mr. Blondie and his three brothers arrived on an old wing back chair. This was at a time in my life of great turmoil. I had been sexually assaulted at work and betrayed by the assailant's friend, my boss. The assailant was a law enforcement officer who was protected by his department and faced no justice. I was made out as the bad guy in this tragic play. I lost my job and we were financially strapped. Going from two small dogs to two small dogs and six cats was a major strain with half the family income gone. I knew we could not keep the cats so we decided to raise them until the kittens were old enough to find new homes. In the next few weeks this one little buff colored fur ball shined with a unique personality. The first hint was when he was a few days old and fell off the chair. That was the first time I had held him. He grew bigger and louder than his brothers. It became apparent that, Mr. Blondie, as I named him due to his buff color, was making a real pull at the heart strings. Before too long, I knew I could not part with him. What made it even harder was that mama ran out of milk as the kittens were starting to be weaned. I had to become mama for two weeks and bottle fed them. Blondie, as we call him most of the time, bonded to me like only a few cats from my past had done. During this hard time in my life as I was putting myself back together, taking care of this cat family shifted my attention away from my problems to service for them. In the process , Mr. Blondie became the best therapist I had during my recovery. He had found his forever home.
