Please meet Miss. Mittens who is a 6 1/2 year old short hair Tabby. I found Mittens and her sister (Tigger) who is also in one of the photos on 2/16/2016 under a heating unit where I was working. My co-workers and I were coming back from lunch and we heard this loud meow sound coming from the heating unit. Their mother was no where in sight and there were 6 adorable baby kittens shaking and hungry

I love seeing the girls as I call them interact with each other and for six years Mittens has been a joy to our household as well as her sisters. All our friends and family say she is beautiful and always asks why did I name her Mittens. Too be honest, I got the name from the Kevin Costner movie Dances with Wolves where he names the wolf socks, so since she has beautiful paws, I named her Mittens.

Mittens is a typical, but special companion. When you pet her, she purrs so lound that sometime at night if she is in the bed, it can be hard to sleep, but she loves sleeping on my chest or she will jump in the bed and head straight for my feet and the last 6 winters, she helps keeps my feet warm during the cold months. Even after all these years, she still knead me as if she is a baby kitten.

I just found out three weeks ago that Mittens has a T3-L3 myelopathy which means she has a spinal cord problem somewhere between her shoulders and hips. She is being treated at VCA Regional Institute for Veterinary Emergencies and Referrals in Chattanooga, TN by Dr. Cheryl Braswell, DVM, DACVECC, CHT-V, CVPP,CHVP who is awesome and understand our situation like many other pet parents.

I am fully employed, but like many others, the last two years has been very difficult for many and I was just starting to get back in a financial position, but bills comes every month. The MRI can cost up to $4000. I am saving, but I feel that time is slipping fast.
