Day by day, this incredible kitten is getting stronger. After everything he has endured, Muffin is now able to stand on his own—a milestone that once seemed so far away. His caregivers are also seeing encouraging improvement in his neurological function, with his nerves becoming stronger than they were when he first arrived. Perhaps one of the biggest victories is something that might seem simple: Muffin can now use his litter box completely on his own. For so long, his veterinary team had to help him empty his bladder because he couldn't do it himself. Now, he is able to manage this important part of his daily life independently. His devastating neck wound has healed, but Muffin continues to receive medication and treatment to support his nervous system as he works toward even greater recovery. His progress may be slow, but every new ability is a reason to celebrate. After spending so much of his young life fighting just to survive, Muffin is finally showing us what is possible when a little animal is given time, medical care, and someone willing to believe in him. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped Muffin come this far. Muffin should have been spending his days playing, exploring, and discovering the world. Instead, this innocent kitten was found alone on the streets, abandoned, terrified, and suffering from injuries no animal should ever endure.

The most heartbreaking injury is a deep, horrific wound across his neck that appears to have been intentionally inflicted. By the time rescuers found him, the wound had become severely infected, filled with pus, and was causing him unimaginable pain. But that wasn't all. Muffin was also dangerously dehydrated and burning with a high fever as his tiny body struggled to fight the overwhelming infection. Without immediate medical care, he may not have survived.

He was rushed to the veterinary hospital, where he is now receiving around-the-clock treatment. Veterinarians have started antibiotics, intravenous fluids, pain medication, and wound management to stabilize him. His fever must come down, and the infection must be brought under control before surgeons can safely repair the devastating injury.

Once his wound has been thoroughly cleaned and all infected tissue removed, Muffin will undergo surgery to close the injury with sutures. Even after surgery, he will need ongoing medications, bandage changes, and careful monitoring to ensure his little body can heal.

Despite everything he has endured, Muffin continues to show the resilience that kittens are known for. Safe at last, he is finally receiving the compassion and care that has been missing from his young life. No kitten should ever know this kind of suffering.

    We have an important update on sweet Muffin.

    The good news is that his horrific neck wound has healed. After everything this tiny kitten endured, seeing that injury finally closed is a huge milestone.

    But Muffin's battle isn't over. He continues to experience significant neurological issues, and his veterinary team believes it may take a great deal of time—and continued treatment—to determine how much improvement he can make. Muffin has now been hospitalized for more than a month, receiving intensive care and constant monitoring.

    Every two days, his veterinary team performs bloodwork and X-rays to closely track his condition and make sure they aren't missing any changes in his recovery. Because of his neurological problems, Muffin is also unable to fully empty his bladder on his own and needs help with this important part of his daily care.

    Despite the long hospitalization and the uncertainty surrounding his recovery, Muffin wants to fight. And his veterinary team isn't giving up on him.

    This little kitten has already survived a devastating infection and a horrific wound. Now he needs time, patience, and continued medical care to see what the future holds.
