About this campaign

The suffering and heartbreak Mya and her family are going through is incomprehensible. They desperately need your help.

On Mother's Day, Mya slipped out of her harness, got loose, and an unidentified person shot her multiple times. "Because of this, her right front leg has had to be amputated. She was also shot through her neck, and it ruptured her trachea, so she is currently breathing through that bullet hole," Amanda G., Mya's human mom, tells Waggle.

Mya is being treated at the Animal Hospital of Clarksville, where her family visits her each day. They're trying to raise money immediately to pay for the emergency care Mya needs. "We lost our home to fire not long ago and lost everything," Amanda says. "We now live in an old FEMA camper. We need help because our only income is disability."

Amanda says that they've had Mya since she was only six weeks old, and she developed an incredible skill. "Mya became my fiance's service dog when she began alerting to his heart attacks. She has faithfully been by his side all her life. Mya loves my children. I have four, three are autistic, and she loves snuggling each of them every night."

Even more gut-wrenching is that Mya can tell when her family is sad like they are now. "Mya doesn't like it when we are upset, and she will let us know by trying to calm us down," Amanda adds. "She will talk to us and hop up on our legs while talking to us to get us to focus on her and calm down. She also melts our hearts every time she howls, 'I love you.'"

Please help Mya get back to her family and through this terrible ordeal.
