Nala is a 2-year-old Lab in New Caney, TX, who needs $2,000 for a hip replacement.

Nala was a rescue from the Humane Society. She was a litter of puppies that was found abandoned. We decided it was the right thing to do to bring her home and that our other dog Bentley could use a friend. Bentley and Nala have become inseparable and follow each other around everywhere. Nala's loving personality has helped me through my depression and anxiety and she is a very important in my life

Nala loves sleeping in bed with us. She is a snorer, but I can't sleep without that loud snore anymore. Before she got hurt she used to love playing in the dog park and sprinting around playing with her sister and other dogs. She loves playing catch with a tennis ball and then playing chase when you try to get the ball back. Nala is a snuggle bug and loved laying on the couch with her parents.

I am a Special Education Teacher and find it hard to have much in savings at a time with my pay. My fiance and myself had just purchased our first house which took up most of our savings. Two weeks after we signed the papers for the house we found out about Nala's hips.

We noticed Nala was favoring one side when she sat down or walked. We brought her into Northpark Animal Hospital to see our veterinarian Dr.Beggs. He examined her and told us both of her hips were bad and she would probably need them replaced. She is only two. He let us know to go see a specialist. While we were waiting for the appointment date, Nala tore the muscles in her knee from compensating.

Nala's favorite game is to go under a blanket that is hanging off our feet or the couch and fight with her sister through the blanket. They have spent countless time playing under our bedding. She also loves when the sprinklers are going off in the lawn. She likes to try to bite the water out of the air. Her enemy will always be the vacuum. She tries to pounce on the vacuum when it is out.
