About this campaign
Last weekend, we saved five shelter dogs. Three of the dogs were siblings — Clover, Guinness, and Molly. But there was one more with them… sweet Nemo. It’s unclear if they all came from the same home, but they were picked up together at the same location. When Nemo first arrived at the shelter, he appeared healthy and was even placed in adoptions. That gave us time to line up a foster and plan for his next chapter. Then everything changed.
On the fourth day at the shelter, Nemo suddenly developed bloody diarrhea with clots. His condition worsened quickly, and he was placed on the euthanasia list. We couldn’t let his story end there — not when he had just started to hope. We stepped in and had him picked up the very next day.
Nemo has been hospitalized. He’s been on IV fluids and medications all week, but he’s still not improving. He’ll remain hospitalized while his veterinary team runs x-rays and a full GI panel to try to find answers and determine the best course of treatment.
What started as a plan to save just one dog quickly changed. We intended to take Clover, but we don’t leave family — or pack members — behind. So one save became four, because they mattered… together. And Nemo deserves the same chance as the rest.
Right now, Nemo is still fighting. He’s receiving around-the-clock care, and the costs are continuing to grow as we search for answers.
If you can spare just $10, it truly makes a difference.
Your support helps cover:
• Hospitalization and IV fluids
• Medications and supportive care
• X-rays and diagnostic imaging
• Full GI panel testing
• Ongoing treatment while we fight for answers
Every single dollar helps us keep going for Nemo. Every share helps him reach someone who can help.
He didn’t deserve to land on a euthanasia list for getting sick — and we’re committed to doing everything we can to give him the chance he deserves. Please consider donating and sharing Nemo’s story. Together, we can help this sweet boy heal and make it safely to the life waiting for him.
4/21/26 Update
Not long ago, Nemo was fighting for his life in a hospital kennel—weak, sick, and not responding to treatment for severe, bloody diarrhea. Before that, he had been picked up by animal control and brought to BARC Animal Shelter, where he landed on the euthanasia list simply for getting sick. After spending a week at the vet clinic receiving intensive care, Nemo made the move into a foster home—and everything changed.
In a home environment, Nemo is a completely different dog. He’s happy. He’s relaxed. He’s finally getting to just be a puppy. Sometimes healing doesn’t come from another medication or test—sometimes it comes from feeling safe.
Nemo has blossomed into an absolute lover boy. He’s a total velcro pup who wants to be by your side at all times. On the ride home from the vet, he spent the entire trip holding paws with his foster mom—just soaking up comfort and connection. He’s dog-friendly, affectionate, and already doing incredibly well with potty training.
There are still a few steps ahead—Nemo will need to be neutered—but his future is finally starting to look bright.
Nemo’s hospitalization, diagnostics, and ongoing care have added up quickly, and we’re still covering the costs of everything it took to save his life. On top of that, he still needs his neuter and continued support as he transitions fully into health and toward his forever home.
We said yes to Nemo when his time was running out. Now we’re asking for your help to make sure that yes lasts a lifetime.
5/7/26 Update
Nemo update — and this one is the kind we’ve been hoping for. After everything this sweet boy has been through, we are so happy to share that Nemo is doing GREAT! When we first pulled Nemo from the euthanasia list, he was incredibly sick with severe bloody diarrhea and not responding to treatment. He spent days hospitalized receiving IV fluids, medications, diagnostics, and around-the-clock care while we searched for answers. It was touch and go for a while, but Nemo never stopped fighting.
Today, his diarrhea issues have fully resolved! We now believe the bleeding may have been caused by a small anal tear that simply needed time and supportive care to heal. Nemo has also officially been neutered and is recovering beautifully.
But the best part? We believe Nemo has a family lined up and will be traveling to them very soon!
Because his future family has young children, Nemo has been spending the last week working on some training to help with puppy manners like jumping and pawing. He’s a happy, loving boy who just gets excited to be around people — and he’s doing so well.
Watching Nemo go from a terrified, sick dog on a euthanasia list to a playful pup preparing for a forever home is exactly why we fight so hard for these animals.
We are endlessly grateful to everyone who donated, shared, cheered him on, and helped make his recovery possible. Your support gave Nemo the second chance he deserved — and now his next chapter is finally beginning.
5/22/26 Update
When Nemo first landed at the shelter, nobody could have predicted how quickly his life would spiral into crisis. What began as hope for a safe rescue turned into an emergency when he suddenly became gravely ill with severe bloody diarrhea and was placed on the euthanasia list simply for getting sick. But thanks to your support, Nemo’s story did not end there.
Because compassionate people stepped up to help, we were able to rush Nemo to safety and provide the hospitalization, diagnostics, medications, IV fluids, and around-the-clock care he desperately needed. There were moments when answers felt uncertain, but Nemo never stopped fighting — and neither did all of you.
And now, we are beyond thrilled to share the outcome everyone was hoping for: Nemo is thriving. His medical issues have resolved, he has officially been neutered, and the terrified, sick puppy we once pulled from the euthanasia list has transformed into a happy, affectionate, playful boy full of life and love. Once he settled into foster care, Nemo truly blossomed. Safe, comfortable, and finally able to relax, his sweet personality came shining through. He became the ultimate velcro pup — loving everyone around him and soaking up every bit of affection he could get.
Even more exciting, Nemo’s future is brighter than ever. After spending time working on puppy manners and preparing for family life, Nemo is now headed toward the loving forever home he always deserved.
Watching him go from critically ill and out of time to healthy, loved, and preparing for his next chapter is exactly why rescue matters.
Your donations made every step of this possible. Because of you, Nemo got the chance that so many shelter dogs never receive — the chance to heal, to be loved, and to have a future.
Thank you for believing in Nemo. Thank you for helping us say yes when his life was on the line. And thank you for proving that one sick puppy on a euthanasia list was worth fighting for.
This is the ending we all hoped for — and Nemo is finally living it.
