Nessie isn’t “just a dog” — she is woven into the deepest parts of our story. She was gifted to me by Christian in July of 2020, right after my first brain surgery, when I was diagnosed with my brain disease. From that moment on, she became more than a companion. She became my healer and my comfort through multiple brain surgeries, vision loss, and some of the darkest valleys of my life.

Yesterday was one of the scariest days our family faced. We rushed our sweet Nessie to the vet, and she was diagnosed with a splenic tumor. Hearing those words crushed us. They gave her pain medication and antibiotics, and we were able to bring her home for the night. This morning, we head back for emergency surgery to remove it.

Nessie is big sister to Bonnie and amazing with our 4 kids! We love her so much. She has laid her head on mine when I couldn’t lift it. She has stayed by my side when my body was weak. She has been our joy, warmth, and family wrapped in fur. She is truly one of God’s sweetest gifts to us.
