About this campaign
We first met Nika when we helped her find her previous owner in September, roaming around our town looking for her puppy. Shortly after SCRAPS picked her up & we decided we would adopt her. Unfortunately, the day we were scheduled to pick her up, our youngest was rushed to surgery. However she made such an impression on us we brought her home a day after we were discharged from the hospital.
She has integrated herself into our family as if she's been with us all along & we joke that she is the dog version of our oldest child. She is absolutely amazing with both our kids & is a huge cuddle bug that melts into your lap when you rub her head. She is also either extraordinarily calm or I the complete opposite and basically goes ice skating through the house!
She can sense when someone is having really elevated anxiety and will go up and lay in their lap. And if you don't let her she will bark extremely loud till you do and will lay there till they start to calm down, even though she wasn't trained to do that. She is also the most clumsy and non-graceful dog and slowest buy messiest eater ever.
Since the day we adopted her in September she has been sick with something that several Vets have not been able to diagnose. They thought it was kennel cough but after multiple medications, tests and X-rays nothing has helped or identified what's wrong. We were referred to Internal Medicine for a CT Scan & Rhinoscopy and because she most likely has Eosinophilic bronchopneumopathy.
Within the last year our youngest had emergency surgery for a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, our oldest was bit by a dog in the face, and we ha extensive complications during our C-section. S lost our oldest daughters father. Itd mean the world to see her feel better
