About this campaign

My son found Nikita one night while driving in the pouring rain in the middle of the road. She was so scared that it took him 20 min. to catch her right before another car came around the curve. As you can see from the first 3 pictures, she was starving, had mange and was only a baby at about 4 mths old. After a month at her new home, she weighed 12 lbs. just half of what she should have.

Nikita has been diagnosed with ectopic ureter and possibly ureterocele and other genetic kidney conditions. She has had 2 ultrasounds that were inconclusive to know exactly how to treat her and requires further testing which is quite expensive. Her right kidney is currently full of urine and we are praying that the kidney will not need to be removed. She has been referred to NC State Nephrology.

Nikita is a happy baby and I want to give her the opportunity to live a long life. Without the testing and surgery, that won't be possible. She has bonded with her brother and they love to wrestle. Nikita's favorite thing to do is to go to the dog park. She waits by her leash at the same time every day. She is so gentle playing with all of the dogs there and the humans think she is the sweetest.

I can't imagine a life without my sweet baby girl. The cost of the extra testing and surgery is anticipated at $10,000 on top of the $2000 I've already spent. I am divorced and live on a fixed income so I can not afford additional testing and surgery.
