Ninja Lost Both Front Legs — Please Help Her Recover Safely

Ninja has already endured more pain than any dog should ever have to face.

After a devastating accident, Ninja underwent the amputation of both of her front legs. Tragically, her suffering did not end there. Following the initial surgery performed elsewhere, her wounds were left improperly closed, leading to serious complications. By the time Ninja arrived with the Baw Baw Animal Welfare veterinary team, her surgical site had become infected and the suture line had completely detached.

Despite everything she has been through, Ninja's spirit remains strong. She is bright, alert, active, and still has a healthy appetite. Her resilience is nothing short of remarkable.

Our veterinary team immediately stepped in to complete the surgery properly, clean and repair her wounds, and begin the treatment needed to fight the infection and give her the best chance at recovery. Ninja has also received her DHPPiL vaccination and has now been transferred to a sanctuary where she can continue healing in a safe and loving environment.

While Ninja is finally receiving the care she deserves, the cost of her medical treatment has been significant. We are asking for your help to cover the veterinary expenses associated with her wound repair, infection treatment, medications, follow-up care, and ongoing recovery.

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share that Ninja has passed away.

After everything she endured—the devastating accident, the loss of both of her front legs, the painful complications from her initial surgery, and the infection that followed—our team fought tirelessly to give her every possible chance. She underwent corrective surgery, received intensive medical care, and was surrounded by people who were determined to help her heal.

For a time, Ninja showed us just how resilient she was. Despite unimaginable hardship, she remained bright, alert, and full of determination. She reminded us every day that her spirit was far stronger than the challenges her body faced.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of her veterinary team, Ninja's body could no longer keep fighting. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the compassion and love she had always deserved.

While this is not the outcome any of us hoped for, we find comfort in knowing that Ninja's final days were filled with kindness instead of suffering alone. She experienced gentle hands, warm beds, proper medical care, and people who saw her life as precious and worth fighting for.

We are deeply grateful to every person who donated, shared her story, and kept Ninja in their thoughts. Your generosity made it possible for her to receive expert veterinary care and gave her every opportunity to recover. Even though we could not change the ending, you ensured that she was never abandoned in her greatest time of need.
