Bleeding, suffering, and limping, Noah Rudolph tried to find help. He just knew in his heart that not all people were bad.

Noah wandered onto the porch of a kind homeowner who found him covered in blood. They contacted One by One Animal Advocates, who saved him.

"His story is a mystery," Heather A., with the nonprofit group, tells Waggle. "No one in the neighborhood recognized him or knew where he came from."

They raced Noah to the animal hospital for X-rays and got a gut-wrenching surprise.

"We assumed he had been hit by a car and were shocked to find out the awful reality: He had been shot," Heather says. "This poor dog is so sweet despite the trauma he has endured. We cannot imagine how a person can look at a living soul and pull the trigger and cause damage and pain."

Seeing animals injured and wounded is tough, but knowing the pain was intentionally caused is very difficult to deal with.

The shelter named him Noah, and the animal hospital called him Rudolph for his red nose, just in time for the holidays.

Now, One By One is getting Noah the best care so that once he's healed, a loving family can adopt him, and he will never know tragedy or pain like this again.

Please consider giving toward Noah's emergency care. Every dollar makes a difference!
