Hello! My name is Norman. I was rescued by my mom at 6 weeks old when the breeder that brought me to the vet hospital where she works to euthanize me because I had a heart murmur/defect. My mom luckily (whew!) fell in love with my face and asked the breeder to sign me over to her. He did and we’ve been inseparable! Lately I fall over when I get excited and found out I need a surgery.

My mom is a single mom with a five year old boy named Teddy—we also have my sister (another rescue) and two cats that are never in the mood to play with me. I enjoy playing with chew toys—I fear both the vacuum and large garbage bags—when I cry I sound like a prehistoric velociraptor. I’m the sole protector of the household and have successfully defended our home from: UPS men and bags.

I’m very intuitive and can tell when someone is upset or stressed so I climb up and snuggle. I like to fight with my older sister for the best toy in the box—I like to turn over the toy bucket to root out the best ones. I like to fluff up a blanket for a while before settling down. Protecting the homestead is my full time job.

Norman collapsed yesterday morning and peed on the floor. He was startled by the hiss of a steam iron and it caused an episode that he’s never had before. I rushed him to the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care center and the put oxygen on him immediately. After numerous tests determined he needs a soft palate resection as it is cutting off his airflow. Until he can get it he must stay sedated.

I work full time as a veterinary assistant and I’m a full time student at two schools—but I’m a single parent and do not have the money needed to save Norman. The estimate is $4k and my clinic where I work doesn’t perform this surgery so I must go to the critical care center for the surgery.
