This is Nova, a gentle soul rescued by Baw Baw Animal Rescue after enduring unimaginable suffering on the streets. For months, Nova battled a severe skin rash that spread across his body, leaving him weak, frail, and in constant pain. Each day, his strength faded as he silently carried the burden of his illness, with no one to comfort him.

By the time we found him, Nova was barely hanging on—struggling just to take each breath. His skin was red, inflamed, and unbearably itchy. Despite his condition, Nova’s spirit still flickered through—he never lost his appetite or will to survive.

A blood test revealed just how dire his situation was: his white blood cell count was dangerously high, signaling a serious infection, and his platelets were abnormally low. He urgently needed medical care, and we immediately started him on antibiotics and steroids to fight the infection and bring him some relief.
