About this campaign

Nova came into rescue in critical condition after almost being put into diabetic ketoacidosis when she was self-diagnosed with diabetes and “treated” with glucose, honey, steak and table food. She is currently hospitalized and her diabetes is being stabilized. She will be fostered by a vet tech at the hospital.

The suffering Nova underwent in order to get the help she needed is heartbreaking. She was placed by another organization, then returned a month later emaciated with a dangerously high blood glucose. She was then brought to an emergency hospital, but taken home against medical advice due to financial constraints, only to end up in another vet hospital the next day, then surrendered to us.

It is almost unheard of for a 13-week old puppy to have juvenile diabetes, but that is what is suspected for poor Nova. She is tiny and sweet, never having had a chance to be a healthy puppy with her medical condition managed before. We joke that she is a miniature dog / cat / bat mix - SO adorable at just 6.5 lbs.

Nova is finally getting the care she so desperately needed, and deserves. She was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes (very rare), and more testing will be done in coming weeks to determine her treatment, full diagnosis and prognosis.

Nova has a long road ahead, but she now has HOPE on her side! Join with us as you give this hope to Nova. Her journey may appear daunting, but she has the best team working together – including YOU – and this makes all the difference in providing Nova with a bright future!
