About this campaign
Vikki K. is distraught. Her service dog, Nova, needs immediate surgery to remove a suspicious tumor.
"One day, when I was brushing Nova, I found a small mass hidden under her fur," Vikki tells Waggle. "Touching it didn't seem to bother her, but I made an appointment at Prescott Animal Hospital (PAWS) to have it examined by Dr. Lauren Peters. By the date of her appointment, the mass had grown in size, and we knew that the best course of action was to have it removed and tested, which also includes bloodwork."
Vikki is having trouble paying for Nova's surgery, and it's been devastating for her. "I have been given a four-legged angel in my life, and her name is Nova," Vikki says. "11 years ago a dear friend of mine had a litter of pups that needed homes. Out of this litter was one adorable pup that came to me, and I couldn't resist. I strongly believe that she chose me to be hers. My Nova became my service dog being there for me as my beloved companion to assist me emotionally and physically."
And Nova has become a tremendous partner to Vikki. "My Nova and I are inseparable. She goes with me everywhere, including church which she loves very much. She is naturally kind and caring. On our walks, she never barks at other dogs. She is very obedient and so well behaved. Her character amazes me, especially her love for her little (dog) sist. Shevi, she watches over her with so much love as a mother would," Vikki says.
This year has been financially devastating for Vikki, as Nova's doggie sister, Navi, was diagnosed with bone cancer. "I exhausted all my funds on treatments, meds, and doctor visits for Navi to sustain her life for as long as possible," Vikki says. "It would mean the world to me to have the funds for my Nova's operation. She is my heart and my life."
