Novak is a 2-year-old Chocolate Lab in Newalla, OK, who needs $2,000 for Acute Care Treatment and Bullet Removal Surgery.

NOVAK is a 2 year-old chocolate male lab who is as sweet as they come. He is currently being fostered in Oklahoma with a foster mom who is well-versed in medical care for acute issues. NOVAK was spotted as a stray in Colgate, OK, but with no one able to foster him, several people kept tabs on him. Last week NOVAK was seen with 2 gun shot wounds and was brought to the vet ASAP.

At the moment, NOVAK has been with his foster for less than a week while he is recovering from surgery to remove the bullet from his jaw. Despite the pain he is experiencing, NOVAK continues to be affectionate and craves human attention. He enjoys belly rubs, rolling around in the grass and meeting new people.

We have been unable to really grasp who NOVAK is yet, given that he has so many medical issues at the moment. Despite the raging infection in his jaw, several shattered teeth and a shattered jaw, he is kind, affectionate and very friendly. We are humbled by his resilience and willingness to be around people despite what happened to him.

NOVAK was seen at Great Plains Hospital (GP) in Arcadia, OK for acute medical needs after being taken into the rescue. He had surgery to remove the bullet, IV fluids and antibiotics. We were referred to an orthopedic surgeon for the surgery to repair his jaw and remove 7 teeth that were shattered. We have made contact with 3 surgeons and are awaiting consult appointments and for swelling to reduce

Our rescue is a non-profit rescue based out of Oklahoma and it is entirely volunteer-operated. We do not make any profit off of adopting animals to their families. The medical expenses for NOVAK's care are immense and we fear other animal's care will be impacted without help
