Dumped & Abandoned: Please Help Sweet Nugget

Little Nugget was dumped, literally, in the middle of the night at a local shelter. When her stray hold was up and no one came for her, NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue took her into their sanctuary. Understandably, she's fearful of most humans, but she formed an immediate bond with her "mommy caretaker" and is happy to be held and carried around all day.

Nugget came to them in heat, and she's started exhibiting some abnormalities with her estrus cycle and needs to be spayed soon to prevent any further complications. Madison Vet Hospital is treating Nugget.

This little 16-pound "nugget" is finding her courage. She's quiet and sweet and gets so excited when her "mommy caretaker" walks into her room. She's yet to bark and likes to chew on nylabones. She's still learning about living in a house and going potty outside, but she'll get the hang of it eventually.

As a registered nonprofit animal sanctuary and hospice, NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue relies on donations to pay for vet bills and medical care.
