About this campaign
In March, I brought home my 6 week-year-old baby Oakley (my German Shepherd). I received him from a gentleman in Westcliffe, Colorado. We brought him home, and immediately fell in love! I work from home, so I am able to bond with him daily. He comes with me and my family everywhere. He sleeps with me at night and is a huge cuddle buddy! He lives with my husband, son, and me. We all love him!
Oakley and my son are best buds! They play together all the time, and Oakley sits at the end of the stairs waiting for him to wake up. My son can't wait until he is trained, so that Oakley can sleep in his bed. My husband tries to act tough, but he truly loves and cares for him. They cuddle and play all the time. My husband really enjoys taking Oak on walks.
Unfortunately, the only cure for TVD is open heart surgery. Otherwise, his life is only on a day-to-day basis. In the midst of my pregnancy, I have spent thousands of dollars on ER visits and medicine to help Oakley.
I thought my 4 month pup, Oakley, was a happy and healthy dog. However, we got him and he kept getting sick. I took him to the vet several times. He was diagnosed with a bone disease as well as a heart disease. The vet told me Oak had Tricuspid Valve Dysplasia, a severe congenital heart disease. As the vet told me he will only live for 3-4 years, my heart broke. I can't lose my baby, my child.
My pup, Oak, is a talker! He cracks us all up. He will come up to you, rest his neck on your shoulders, and give you a hug. Once he is done with that, he will attack with kisses. We ask him questions, and he talks back with excitement. In fact, he will talk to you until you respond to him. Almost feels like a full conversation. He also has an attitude if you do something he does not approve of.
