About this campaign
When my husband and I lived out in North Dakota, it was our first home away from home so we decided adopting a dog would be the best way to have an additional companion around. When we started looking we agreed that rescuing would be the best opportunity we could give to any animal, and that’s when we met Obi. Obi was just about 8 weeks old, and was ready to be loved!
Obi is a lover. Most days he lays around waiting for our girls to come by and give him pats. We have a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old, both he loves dearly. He loves lounging in the sun whether he’s inside or outside and has a very relaxed demeanor. On a day to day he loves going out on walks, rolling the freshly cut grass and has the best smile on this planet.
Obi is by far the silliest dog I’ve ever known. He’s about 90 lbs but acts like he’s a lap dog. He loves people, especially men, and can’t keep his butt still when he sees family or friends. He’s the best part of our days. Coming home to a big warm smile and in his own way, hugs, it’s the best feeling after a hard day.
A few weeks back we noticed Obi started developing a bad limp. We brought to the Veterinary Hospital and the doctor informed us that Obi could have a torn ACL. Obi was in pain medication for 10 days to see if that may help the injury. Since Obi has not shown signs of improvement we brought him back in and today he had an X-ray which concluded a fully torn ACL. The estimate for surgery is $5,142.80
This unexpected injury couldn’t have come at a worse time. I’m out of work due to an injury anmy husband is full time but like I said we have two small children. We don’t make enough to save any money we just make enough to survive. With no savings in place we’re scrambling.
