Olive came into our life unexpected 5 years ago, but a great addition to our family when a neighbor told us about a runt of the litter that he was having trouble with finding a home for her. Olive is a gentle giant - she has the most caring soul of sensitivity and protection. Her best friend is her little big sister, and we always see it as fate that we brought the two of them together.

A month ago, we noticed a small cut at the tip of her tail, no bigger than a hair on your head. We cleaned it and placed ointment on it, but we soon learned about happy tail syndrome. In the span of a month, her small cut grew into a very alarming situation. We took her to our local urgent care once we realized it wasn't healing, and they surmised that her tail would have to be amputated.

As I said earlier, I've never met a more gentle or protective soul than Olive, human or animal. She defends other when she understands they need defending. She loves with a fervor that seems Infinite. We can leave her with other smaller animals, or even small children with no fears. Olive is special because she is Olive, the only one that will ever exist.

The sudden amputation is an expense that is challenging for us to come up with on our own while paying bills. We have her on antibiotics, to stop infections, & pain relief until we can afford the surgery. While she will no longer have her gorgeous tail, she'll have her life.
