About this campaign

On Dec 28th we heard distressed meows from outside our window, I went outside and found little Olive crying beside our AC units in 30 degree weather. She walked up to me when I sat down and let me take her inside to get warm, but then we noticed her breathing. She has retractions in her abdomen everytime she breathes and very shallow breaths at that.

Olive sleeps in our guest room currently to isolate from our other cats. Everyone is very interested and wants to meet her! Olive is immediately sweet and wants to climb up on your lap to get pets. She flips a switch instantly and wants to play with you so she will attack your shoe laces! She deserves to come out and play freely but she cannot until she gets treatment and can play safely.

Olive was immediately special for us because she's only 3 pounds but she has an old grumpy man meow! She grumbles when you pet her like she's lived 100 years already and we think she's so funny. She also was so quick to trust us and spent hours asleep on my stomach the day we found her outside the apartments.

Olive's odd breathing was the main reason we went to the vet. The vet was worried about it too and got her an xray, which I have attached. Olive is breathing so shallow because she has a diaphragmatic hernia either due to trauma or a birth defect. Some of her intestines are pushing through her diaphragm and compressing her lungs. We would be referred to a specialist for surgery if we can afford it

The vet warned us that treatment for this procedure can cost anywhere between $3000 to $5000. I want to help this fiesty kitten have a chance at a happy life. I cannot afford this entirely by myself, but I wanted to try this in case I can cover the remaining costs.
