I adopted Oliver in 2017, the same year my father passed away. He was just six months old at the time. Over the past eight years, he has brought constant joy into my life. I had never had a pet before Oliver, and he is still the only one I have. Its just the two of us, I dont live with anyone else. He’s been my lil companion through everything.

Oliver recently began losing motor function in his legs, especially his hind legs. One night, he struggled to move around the house and couldn’t get in or out of his litter box without falling. He was dragging himself and collapsing when trying to crouch. I rushed him to BluePearl Pet Hospital, where they diagnosed him with progressive ataxia.

Oliver is such a passive cat and has always loved belly rubs, he will go completely limp when you scratch his tummy. He used to be full of energy, racing through nightly zoomies before bed. Now he can barely take a few steps without collapsing. I can see he still wants to run and jump, and watching him try but fail breaks my heart.

I was born with keratoconus in both eyes and lost vision in my left eye during middle school because of it. The condition has since progressed in my right eye to the point that I’ve been unable to work since 2023. I am currently in the process of applying for disability.
