About this campaign
We met a breeder and my fiancé (now wife) specifically picked him out of the litter. He wasn’t very playful and was just content on his own. She insisted he would make a perfect addition to our family. I disagreed but turns out she was right! He is the absolute best companion and has the sweetest disposition. We are heartbroken with the choices laid before us.
Oliver along with our other two dogs live with my family here in Indiana . We have had Oliver for 6 years. He was the ring bearer at our wedding and guard to our two sons when they first came home from the hospital. Unlike most dachshunds Oliver enjoys all weather, especially the snow! And here in Indiana we aren’t short in the seasons.
This is a very unexpected emergency surgery that is required for his survival. The cost of this surgery is close to $4000. With the recent birth of our second son we just do not have the funds to cover the surgery in the timely manner it demands.
Oliver has suffered a perineal hernia on both sides. This is causing him to strain when he needs to relieve himself. It’s a delicate surgery and our vet from Country Acre Animal Hospital recommended a specialist at MedVet in Indianapolis and unfortunately the cost of the surgery is more than we could imagine. Without the surgery he will have to be put down.
Oliver has always held a special place in our hearts. Especially my wife’s. He helped her through a family tragedy, walked down the aisle at our wedding and was by her side caring for our two children. He carries himself with such poise that we often call him “the duke” because of his posture when he sits across from us.
