Onyx is a 10 year old American Shorthair in Las Vegas, , who needs $13,000 for SRT Radiation.

I found Onyx 10 years ago on Facebook, from a family selling him for $25, and we’ve together ever since. I had just graduated high school and was wanting a pet of my own. I named him after the Onyx gemstone, he was pure black like the gem. I have another cat, Hades, who they act just like brothers do. There’s also 2 dogs owned by my mom, and my brother has his own cat. They get along okay (lol).

Onyx was diagnosed with a cancerous mass in his chest back in March ‘25. At the time, things weren’t looking good and so he was sent home on Palliative care. 6 months go by, and he’s still doing good so now I’m seeking out SRT radiation treatment from Arizona Veterinary Oncology in Gilbert, AZ to shrink/destroy (hopefully) the mass. I feel in my heart that more can be done for him than palliative.

He loves to sit in the sun and watch the outside. He absolutely loves to cuddle everybody. When I’m not home, he’s busy going to different peoples rooms in my house to visit and hang out. Him and Hades act just like brothers do (they love each other but still fight). My family loves him too, especially because he is so sweet. All he wants to do is give love and receive love.

His initial emergency visit and diagnosis ate up any emergency funding I had, on top of the medications and bloodwork I have to continuously get for him. I work at a retirement home and don’t make a lot of money, and his total treatment was quoted at $13,000.
