About this campaign

Onyx is my adorable semifoster fail. She is the only survivor of a litter of 12 and was a hand raised, bottle fed neonate. Onyx has overcome so much including food allergies and a failed adoption. She has been on several rounds of antibiotics and undergone many tests to identify the problem. Her most recent ultrasound shows abnormal changes which require surgery.

Onyx is a very important part of our lives. My daughter would tell you Onyx and I have a bond beyond comprehension. Onyx is very affectionate and loving. She is also very vocal, so we have conversations. Being a foster and hand raised, Onyx doesn't realize she is a dog and her antics crack us up. You can never be in a bad mood with Onyx around. Onyx is being trained to be a service dog.

Onyx has significant food allergies and eats a specific dog food and her safe treats are healthy fruits and vegetables. Her absolute favorites are mango, pineapple, and sweet potato. Onyx has no fear of medical equipment which makes her ideal as a service dog. She is an overcomer even defying the little chance of survival she was given at birth.

Onyx is treated by Dr. Johnson and Dr. Horsely at Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Laser Center. It was first believed Onyx had an uti, but after 2 rounds of antibiotics it was learned she didn't. Onyx developed new symptoms, after testing we learned Onyx had a vaginal infection. We treated with antibiotics, but her symptoms returned. Her most recent imaging shows abnormalities and needs surgery.

We live on a fixed income as I am disabled. Onyx is training to be my service dog. I have tapped out all my spare income with tests and trying to treat her. To have her healthy would take a huge weight off my shoulders.
