About this campaign

We originally got Oreo in 2009 as a puppy. She was one of the family dogs, but was particularly attached to and protective of my mother. My mother has long since passed away. Later after the family was starting to leave home and go their own ways back in 2016, I took the two family dogs, Oreo and Mocha, as my own and have been caring for them since.

She's a bit grumpy and doesn't like to socialize. She has always been like that. She usually lies next to me whenever she has the chance, though, if I'm on the couch. I have to help her up. She can't jump to high given her hernia.

Oreo's always been disinterested in people and other dogs, but she's fascinated by animals she hasn't seen before. When she sees a new type of animal, she'll stand within a few feet of them and just watch with fascination.

On November 25th, I noticed Oreo was having a little trouble moving around. I didn't think anything of it at first. Later, I noticed a golf ball sized lump on her stomach, which for a chihuahua is very large. It turns out this was a hernia. The clinic referred me to an affordable surgeon in Nederland. They quoted the surgery and medicine at about $1600.

I may have had a chance of affording the treatment before, but, within three weeks, I had three major emergencies. First, my other dog Mocha needed to go to the emergency clinic, then this hernia appeared, then the following week I had to pay for major car repairs.
