Oscar is a 3-year-old Chihuahua in Middletown, NY, who needs $1,700 for heart worm injections.

We rescued Oscar after he was abandoned and living in the streets. He was extremely underweight and scared, but he let us take him in. We cleaned him up, feed him and gave him a warm place to sleep. We took him to the vet for a check up and discovered he has heartworms. Treatment will cost about $2500. I recently lost my mother, and due to funeral expenses I am unable to afford his treatment.

Oscar is still very shy but is warming up to his new life. He is getting along very well with old first dog, Eva. He is currently being crate trained as to make his transition more comfortable. Due to the heartworms, we have to limit his daily activities as it is not good for his heart. He spends his days relaxed on one of the two beds we purchased for him.

I lost my mother to Covid a few days after taking Oscar in. My family is going through a very hard time emotionally and financially. I am at a loss of what to do. I don't want to give him up and I'm afraid a shelter will euthanize him.

As Oscar was rescued off the street in Florida, we have no idea how long he has been sick. He recently developed a cough that is heartbreaking to hear and causes his whole body to shake. He still has a decent appetite and drinks lots of water

Oscar is an extremely sweet puppy. He is very calm and quiet. He love cuddles and likes to sit on your shoulder as if he's a parrot. He is very small (only 4 pounds), so he has a little bell on his collar so we can find him easily. He likes to jump up and walk on two legs when asking for hugs. He loves his thermal blanket and eating mini soup bone treats.
