I was 18 years old and fresh out of foster care when I found Osiris as a stray near the train station next to my house. He was a tiny little thing with eyes barely opened. I bottle fed him and watched him grow before my eyes. He’s been a blessing to me for the last almost 12 years now. I’d just lost my mom the year prior. He’s been my saving grace through many years of hardship since.

Osiris sleeps beside my pillow every night. I’m a new mom and he’s the best big brother to my 4 month old son. He follows me around like a shadow and always chirps to greet me even if it’s only been minutes since he last saw me. He’s definitely the boss in this relationship but catering to him and his needs has been what’s kept me going for many hard years of life and loss.

Osiris is a quirky boy for sure. Very talkative and demands everyone bow down to him. But he’s so sweet with my baby and is so gentle and loving with him. He’s my old man but still plays with the pizazz of a kitten. Only recently did his behaviors begin to change as the pain from his teeth became more than he could hide.

Osiris recently showed signs of pain in his mouth by not wanting his normal favorite hard food and preferring wet. I noticed inflammation around his gums on his left canine teeth and back molars on the same side. I had him evaluated and they think it may be resorptive lesions. But won’t know without X-ray. They’ll do cleaning and extraction at the same time while he’s under anesthesia.

Osiris has been my baby. Was told I couldn’t have kids for 12 years. Then I found him. Just this past October I had my only child by a miracle. I want my boys to grow together. Osiris has been my reason for living. I can’t lose him. And poor dental health is detrimental
