Otis is a sweet, one-year-old Pitbull mix from Georgia who should be focused on being a goofy, happy puppy—but instead, he’s facing a painful medical emergency. The tip of Otis’s tail has an exposed bone, and his veterinarian has confirmed that he urgently needs a tail amputation to heal and live comfortably.

Otis’s veterinarian is optimistic and believes that once surgery is complete, Otis will make a full recovery and be able to return to the playful, loving dog he’s meant to be.

Otis’s mom shared his story with us, and it’s clear just how deeply loved he is. She rescued him at only four weeks old from an unsafe environment, instantly forming a bond that’s never wavered. When Otis began developing severe skin issues that later spread to his tail, she did everything she could at home while struggling financially—cleaning wounds, administering medication, and never giving up on him. Despite antibiotics clearing up the rest of his body, his tail injury worsened, leaving the bone exposed and surgery as the only option.

Otis isn’t just a pet—he’s family. He’s a funny, talkative boy who “talks back” when spoken to and brings endless joy to everyone around him. His mom calls him her four-legged son and loves him with her entire heart—but she can’t do this alone.
