About this campaign
Otter is a sweet, five year old, girl from Maine who we received when she was only 8weeks old. She had a rough start to life with over a year battle with giardia but has now been enjoying all Maine has to offer for the past 4 years.
Otter enjoys her large family, growing up with 3 human children and 2 dog “siblings”. She loves to play hide n seek with her humans, swim, play at the ocean, walk in the woods, go to work with Dad, sled with the humans, and romp through every mud puddle she can find!
Otter has never been alone a day in her life. She has always had the closest bond with her human siblings and dog siblings, following someone around to see what kind of adventure she can go on with them. Otter loves to play and can always be found with a toy in her mouth.
Otter was taken to Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital and seen by Dr. Lenhard-Roger’s on the late evening of January 12,24. Otters family found some abnormal looking drainage and suspected something was wrong although she wasn’t acting out of her normal happy self. Upon examination, Otter was found to have Pyometra and recommended to have an urgent laparotomy followed by antibiotic therapy.
Otters parents work hard serving the local public, Dad is a police Officer, Army veteran and Mom is a registered nurse. They work very hard in such trying times in each career but still find themselves at a loss financially in this competitive world of healthcare service.
