About this campaign

Papyrus was living in misery outside a garage behind a barbed-wire fence. Ghastly lacerations from the enclosure covered his body. One gash was so infected, and oozy trash cemented onto it. But that's actually what helped save him.

Meagan L., from Puppy Kitty NYC (PKNYC), first spotted Papyrus while she was trying to rescue a different cat from the same property.

"The conditions there were soul-crushing," Meagan tells Waggle. "The cat I went to save was not there. Then I spotted another cat. He had this huge wound on his leg with a piece of paper stuck to it. That's why I named him Papyrus."

Meagan managed to catch Papyrus and brought him to the Animal Clinic of Queens. "He was in such bad shape. The veterinarian needed to repair his wounds with sutures and put in a drain. I just wanted to cry for him. It was terrible," she says.

Papyrus is recovering from his injuries and decompressing. He's one of many cats Meagan and the rescue have saved from the streets of NYC. Now the nonprofit group needs your assistance paying off his medical bills so they can continue taking in other animals in dire shape who are living in dangerous conditions.

"Our mission is to never say no to an animal in need," Meagan says. "We save street cats and rehabilitate them. It's not safe for them to be living outside in the city. Thank you for your help!"
