About this campaign
Parker is a 9-year-old German shepherd/Rottweiler mix. He was adopted from the San Antonio Humane Society in June 2013. He was only a few months old at the time. Parker is the name the shelter gave him, and my family kept. We’ve had him for nearly a decade. He’s lived in a home with a yard his whole life. He loves being inside and playing. Parker is a unique little creature with his own quirks.
Parker loves to sleep, eat, play and eat some more. His favorite is none other than movie theater popcorn. Whenever we go to the movies, we make sure to bring some popcorn back with us. His favorite toys are lamb chop and this squid toy with an empty water bottle inside. He loves being with the family and spending the day playing and getting all the back pats in the world.
When Parker gets very excited, he stands next to you and uses your legs as a wall for his whole body to lean against. Then he anxiously waits for all the pets and his beloved back pats. He loves it. The more you pet him, the more excited he becomes. Then he brings you his toy to play with. He plays by first hitting you with his toy and then plays no-gives-backs or tug of war.
About 3 weeks ago, Parker was diagnosed with spontaneous pneumothorax. They performed a thoracentesis procedure on him, but his diagnosis is recurring. The vet referred us to 2 specialists. We were advised Parker would need a lung lobectomy. His regular vet also offered to do the procedure.
We’ve spent nearly $4,000 at this point for his consultations, blood work, procedures, etc. I just started a new job after being unemployed for most of 2022 and 2021. The estimate for his surgery is an unexpected expense that my family cannot fully fund at this time.
