About this campaign

Pasadena Humane serves as a critical lifeline for pets impacted by the Eaton Fire, and every evacuated area in the Eaton Fire currently falls within our service area. They have been working tirelessly! Since the fire broke out on the evening of Tuesday, January 7th:

• 771 animals have been cared for both at Pasadena Humane and out in the field (wildlife, community cats, etc.)
• 243 shelter reunifications, meaning people who have come in and found a lost pet ❤️
• 379 field reunifications, meaning that animals didn't even have to come into the shelter environment, our team was able to scan their microchip or read their tag and bring them immediately to their family ❤️

Due to an outpour of generosity from their surrounding community, they were able to give their current animals to shelters across the state so they can focus their attention on the animals coming in that are in critical care or were left behind by their owners. Sadly, many animals are coming in with burns and injuries and have to be treated in ICU.

They are committed to providing care and resources to support our community during this unprecedented emergency:

• Emergency Response: We have trained emergency responders on the ground providing lifesaving assistance, including animal evacuation, care for injured animals, and resources such as food and supplies for animals who remain in the fire zone.
• Evacuation Center: Pasadena Humane is the designated evacuation center for animals affected by the Eaton Fire. We are providing animals impacted by the fire with safe shelter and medical care.
• Lost Pet Support: If you’ve lost a pet, visit our Pet Connect page. We have extended our stray hold to 21 days to give families the chance to reconnect with their lost pets.
• Emergency Boarding: We will continue to provide emergency boarding for lost pets whose families have been evacuated, ensuring animals are cared for until their families can safely reclaim them. We currently have over 600 animals in our care.
• Community Cats: Our team is setting up feeding stations and humane traps for community cats in the fire zone.

Long-term they will support their community through their Helping Paws food bank and resource center, which are vital programs designed to support pet owners facing financial hardship. It provides free pet food, supplies, and essential resources to help families keep their beloved pets during challenging times. The food bank distributes items such as kibble, wet food, leashes, collars, and more, ensuring that pets remain well-fed and cared for.

Additionally, the Resource Center offers guidance on pet care, referrals to low-cost veterinary services, and access to programs like spay/neuter assistance. By addressing these needs, the Helping Paws initiative strengthens the bond between pets and their families, preventing pet surrender and promoting community well-being.

At their Pasadena campus, they provide shelter, dedicated care and new beginnings for thousands of their community’s most vulnerable animals every year. In addition to pet adoptions and foster, they focus on programs and services aimed at helping people care for and keep their pets, such as free and low-cost spay/neuter and vaccines, a pet food pantry, and an animal support call center. In 2023, Pasadena Humane helped more than 47,000 animals through adoptions, wildlife rehabilitation, lost & found, veterinary services, training classes, and surrender prevention assistance.

Now, with such a high volume of animals in need of intensive care, we’re asking that you please support Pasadena Humane’s amazing efforts to serve their community and care for each individual animal. Your donation will cover the cost of emergency treatments, pain medications, wound care, fluids, oxygen, and ongoing care.

We can’t express our gratitude enough to generous donors like you for your compassion and support to help Pasadena Humane conquer an immense challenge during this unprecedented time.
