About this campaign
At just five weeks old, Peanut should have been learning how to play, explore, and feel safe. Instead, she came into our care fighting for every single breath.
Peanut is a survivor of a backyard breeder, and by the time she reached us, her tiny body was already overwhelmed. Her lungs were filled with pneumonia, and she was struggling to breathe on her own—the heartbreaking video of her gasping for air is something we’ll never forget. Right now, she remains oxygen dependent and in critical condition. Despite everything, Peanut is fighting. We’ve seen small signs of improvement, but her condition is still incredibly fragile.
During her initial exam, our veterinary team detected a heart murmur, raising concerns about a possible congenital condition called a persistent aortic arch. This condition can trap the esophagus, making it difficult to swallow properly and often leading to aspiration pneumonia—the very battle Peanut is facing right now. We have approved an echocardiogram to get answers. If this diagnosis is confirmed, there \_is\_ a surgical option—but Peanut must first be stable enough to survive it.
Right now, her care is intensive and around-the-clock. Oxygen support, medications, monitoring—everything she needs to stay alive. The cost of her hospitalization is reaching approximately $1,000 per day, and it continues to climb as we fight to give her a chance.
Peanut didn’t deserve the start she was given. But with your help, her story doesn’t have to end here. Please consider donating to support Peanut’s critical care. Every dollar helps us continue lifesaving treatment and brings her one step closer to breathing on her own, to healing, and to the life she should have had all along. We cannot do this without you. Thank you for standing with Peanut.
6/11/26 Update
At just 5 weeks old, Peanut entered our care fighting for every breath. The tiny puppy, a victim of backyard breeding, arrived critically ill with severe pneumonia and was so oxygen dependent that she could barely function on her own. As doctors fought to stabilize her, another devastating concern emerged. Peanut was found to have a heart murmur, raising fears of a congenital condition called a persistent aortic arch, a defect that can trap the esophagus and lead to repeated aspiration pneumonia. Her future was uncertain, and every day felt like a battle. But Peanut had other plans.
Day by day, she got stronger. Breath by breath, she kept fighting. And today, the little puppy who once needed round-the-clock medical care is living the life every dog deserves.
Thanks to the support of our community, Peanut is thriving in her forever home. She has canine siblings, feline siblings, and even a niece who she absolutely adores. The puppy who once struggled just to breathe now spends her days playing, exploring, and making memories with the family who loves her beyond measure.
From an oxygen chamber to a loving home, stories like Peanut's remind us why we never give up.
Happy Tails, Peanut. We couldn't be happier for you.
