About this campaign

Pearl came to One by One Animal Advocates after she had recently given birth to multiple kittens, but sadly only one named Diamond survived. To make matters worse, she was absolutely consumed by fleas, leaving her skin incessantly itchy, raw, and painful. The rescue noticed that her belly was enlarged and they assumed she was already pregnant again. However, Pearl’s condition rapidly declined.

She began panting, became lethargic, and her body was hot to the touch. She was rushed to the emergency room. Her bloodwork revealed troubling abnormalities, but was clear of any signs of pregnancy, pyometra, or FIP. She was placed on IV fluids and antibiotics in hopes to relieve some of her symptoms and help her recover. She showed slight improvement but was not rebounding the way the vet would have liked to see.

Finally, after ongoing vet visits, extensive bloodwork, and a variety of medications, her condition was discovered. Pearl has an ectopic spleen, meaning that it has actually displaced itself in her tiny body. This is a rare and dangerous condition that requires surgical removal.

Pearl has fought so hard to stay well and take care of her one surviving kitten and One by One is determined to help her heal. Pearl’s surgery and care will be costly, but her life is worth it. Please donate today to help Pearl receive this life-saving surgery. Together, we can make a difference.
