About this campaign

When rescuers found Pearl, she was just a baby—barely 50 days old—curled up in pain, trying to disappear into the corner of a building in Alexandria. Her tiny body was trembling, her leg shredded and bleeding, and her eyes full of quiet fear.

Stray Dog Support rushed her to the hospital, where the vets were faced with a heartbreaking decision: Pearl’s front right leg was too far gone to save. The only way to stop her suffering was amputation.

The good news? Pearl made it through surgery. This little fighter woke up wagging her tail, alert and hungry—already showing everyone what resilience looks like. Her back leg, which also had a deep, infected wound exposing bone, is slowly healing thanks to round-the-clock care, laser therapy, and twice-daily applications of medical Manuka honey.

But her journey is far from over. The infection is still a serious threat, and her bloodwork shows she’s severely anemic. Each day, the team focuses on stabilizing her, cleaning her wounds, and fighting the infection that could cost her another limb.

Every test, every cleaning, every dose of antibiotics adds up—and the costs of her care are overwhelming. Pearl’s still in a fragile place, and she needs all the help she can get to make it through the next few weeks.

If you can, please help Stray Dog Support give this tiny survivor the chance to grow up pain-free and loved. Every single contribution—no matter the size—helps Pearl heal.

Update 12/8/25 Pearl is doing great! She will have a second surgery to remove the stump of her front leg. She has received her first set of vaccinations. Her back leg is healing well, so they don’t believe she will need that leg amputated, which is great news! Thank you for your continued support in helping this sweet girl heal!

12/17/25 Last night, Pearl bravely underwent her second surgery. After careful consultation with the veterinary team, it was determined that removing what remained of her front leg at the shoulder was the safest option to avoid future complications with her stump. At the same time, Pearl was also spayed. We’re relieved to share that she came through the procedure and is now resting in recovery.
