Pearl is a 12-year-old Chihuahua in Tulsa, OK, who needs $1,600 for Bulging disc or ruptured disc.

I rescued Pearl from the animal shelter. She came in with her sister Emmy. Both were 5 yrs old. Their owner had passed away and the family didn’t want them. Fortunately they were only there 2 days when I found them. I brought them both home,because they were a bonded pair…both chihuahuas different blood lines. Pearl is a hairless chihuahua her hair is FUZZ! She is a regular cuddle bug.

Pearl is blind, so is her sister. Pearl’s blindness came from Macular Degeneration but she uses the doggie door and very rarely bumps into walls. She has a REAL good quality of life. So loves to go on walks and experience smells of other pups. Being 12 yrsl old she is a chilled pup and loves to chew on her treats.

Even though she is blind she comes and meets me at the door when I come home. I’ve built steps and ramps so she can come and go as she wants, whether it be on the couch or my bed. She and her sister are a bonded pair and are constantly together. They groom each other daily. Both of them are at my side when I’m home.

The last 3 weeks she has been whining in pain. I’ve taken her to the vet twice and by process of elimination she’s been diagnosed with a slipped or herniated disc in her neck. An MRI costs at least $1000 and God knows what the remediated surgery would cost to fix the disc! She’s overcome so much she has a lot of life to live.

I’m retired on SSI and working a part time job at 72 yrs. old. I can’t afford the MRI or the surgery she needs to fix her. If I can’t find a way to get her what she needs I will have to put her down….pain meds just don’t work, and it’s no way to live.
