Pepper is a 4 year old American Bulldog in Antioch, CA, who needs $1,268 for Cardiology Exam.

On 10-18-2025, my 15 years of age pitbull, I'd had since he was 6 weeks old, passed. Thankfully I retired in March 2025, allowing me to spend approximately 8 uninterrupted joyful months with him and to provide end of life care, smothering him with hugs, kisses, and love. One night while sitting and crying over the loss, and scrolling through adoptapet.com, I came across Pepper.

I adopted Pepper on 1-18-2026, took her to an unfamiliar Vet on 1-21-2026 whom advised me that she has a heart murmur. Concerned with the diagnosis, I took her to the Vet Hospital I previously used, for a second opinion. Her heart murmur was confirmed, stated as being loud and concerning, requiring an examination and/or treatment by a cardiologist. Sage Vet Center in Concord CA was contacted.

When scrolling through adoptapet.com website I was not sure if I was ready to be a pet mom to another fur baby just yet, because I was still hurting over my last. But when I came across Peppers pic my heart melted, it was her eyes. When I met her, I had to hold back tears. She came to me and never left my side. When we got home, it was like she'd always been with me, I was meant to be her mom.

In order to determine cause of the heart murmur, and/or potential severity, the cost will be $1268 for a cardiologist exam, unaffordable on a fixed income but she's the sweetest, most loving, girl ever and deserves the best chance at a wonderful life. I absolutely love her.
