I adopted my Percy boy when he was around 6 months old. My cat of 18 years had passed a few months before and a store I was at one day was hosting an adoption event. Percy was an older kitten that was overlooked because he was very timid and shy. I took him to a chair away from the crowd, talking to him softly while petting him. He calmed down and began to purr. I adopted him a few days later.

Percy is my calm, quiet one. He loves to cuddle at bedtime. He is also my "grumpy old man", though he isn't old. He has a dog and a cat brother. He is snuggling with his feline brother, Elliott, in the attached pic just weeks before Percy getting sick. I foster cats & kittens, which is where the "grumpy old man" part comes in. He tolerates the kittens' antics, but puts them in their place too. LOL

Percy believes he is the king of the house and common cat play is beneath him. He is oddly particular in his choice of cat toys, black toy mice and my hairbands only. Both of which he loves to play fetch with. His favorite activity is watching the birds and squirrels out back. When he sees me settled in under a blanket, he will hop up to make biscuits, curl up, and purr contentedly.

A week ago, Percy began vomitting. It was extreme and unusual. I took him to the vet where an X-ray showed, what was initially believed to be an obstruction in his esophagus. He is still undergoing tests, but we now believe he has a hiatal hernia. This is extremely rare in cats. He has not eaten in 5 days. He will likely need surgery. He is currently at the VCA emergency center in Norwalk, CT.

This expense has been very large and unexpected. My emergency fund has been depleted, with much treatment still to come. He is young, only 6, & this condition is treatable with the appropriate care. I would be extremely grateful for any help provided to get my boy healthy.
