About this campaign

On Wednesday night, we noticed that Percy was suddenly struggling to breathe, coughing, lethargic, not wanting to eat, and turning blue. He was rushed to Upstate Veterinary Specialties emergency clinic where he was immediately hospitalized in critical condition.

Our new foster baby Percy, came to us about 10 days ago as a single orphaned kitten. He’s been requiring around the clock care and feeding every several hours since he has no mom. He is the only survivor from his litter so we just can't give up on him now especially that he survived the last 24 hours on only a 5% chance!

It was difficult to determine what caused Percy to suddenly start to crash after doing well, but he may have anything from an upper respiratory infection or aspiration pneumonia, to fading kitten syndrome. Unfortunately babies so small cannot overcome minor infections/illnesses nearly as well as older kittens and adults. The vet had given Percy a 5% chance of survival and recommended euthanasia.

Percy has been hospitalized since Wednesday night. His current bill is up to $5000. The oxygen cage alone, which he needs to remain is, costs $96/hour. They were finally able to place an IV catheter to administer antibiotics and fluids. He is breathing better but still cannot breathe unsupported and his body temperature remains unstable. He is at Upstate Veterinary Specialties Emergency clinic.

Pursy needs ongoing supportive care for a chance at survival which we sadly cannot continue to provide without help. We have a cat who was just diagnosed with cancer and 2 others who have had medical issues which this month alone cost us $12,000 in loans.
