About this campaign
Persephone was found by an elderly woman living under a small trailer home, abandoned by her previous owners. This woman cared for her the best she could, but could not afford her medical needs. I happened to work at the facility she came into and decided to foster her and take her to the vet to find out what was wrong with her paws, get some bloodwork, and also a general wellness exam.
Persephone loves to head-butt and gives lots of love nibbles to anyone she can. She is incredibly sweet and loving, especially for how much pain she’s endured throughout her life. She enjoys curling up on my stomach and will fall asleep with her loud motor going. She enjoys being near us, even if we’re working or watching a movie, and actively seeks out our attention. She has the kindest heart.
I have grown so attached to this bundle of love over the short week that I’ve been caring for her. It seems like I’ve had her for months with how close we are. I am currently a full-time college student, so my budget is small. Anything at all will help, even if it’s a share.
Dr. Warner at Elko Veterinary Clinic discussed that there is no definite cure for osteochondrodysplasias and treatments at this stage would not do much to help her arthritis. Persephone will be on pain medications and steroids for the rest of her life to keep her happy and healthy. She will also need a dental in the near future, but to what extent (cleaning or extraction), we are not sure yet.
Persephone is special, because even when she was in pain, she was still a cuddly and playful cat. Being a Scottish Fold, she likely has osteochondrodysplasias and has possibly been in pain for the majority of her life. It’s plausible that being in pain has become normal for her, which absolutely breaks my heart.
