Help Persi Heal: Maine Coon Needs Surgery for Painful Ear Infection and Eye Condition

Meet Persi, a gorgeous Maine Coon cat with the sweetest soul. Pumpkin’s Rescue Club found him wandering the streets, sick, starving, and abandoned. We believe he was used for breeding, and when he became ill, he was simply dumped.

Despite everything he’s endured, Persi greets everyone with gentle affection. He’s severely malnourished, suffering from a painful chronic ear infection that’s left him with a head tilt, and he has a grade 3 heart murmur that requires monitoring. Persi also still needs to be neutered once he’s strong enough.

Persi deserves more than the neglect he’s known — he deserves a chance at comfort, care, and love. Your support will cover his vet visits, medications, diagnostic tests, and the treatments he needs to begin healing.

Update 9/27/25

Persi is looking so much better and is so happy to be inside in a foster home lounging on the bed and getting lots of pets. Unfortunately Persi developed a UTI, and is now being treated with antibiotics. \*\*\*\* Update 10/11/25\*\*\*\*

Sweet Persi recently finished a round of antibiotics for his UTI, but unfortunately, he’s still not fully recovered. His foster has noticed he’s continuing to pee small brown spots in random areas around the house — a sign that something still isn’t right. Today, Persi is back at the vet for further diagnostics to figure out what’s going on. The team suspects he may have a bladder stone, which could explain his lingering discomfort.

Persi has been such a trooper through all of this, and we’re hoping to get clear answers soon so he can finally feel relief. Sweet Persi has come such a long way, but his medical journey isn’t over yet. This gentle boy is still struggling with an ear polyp that causes painful, recurring infections and heavy wax buildup—requiring daily cleanings just to keep him comfortable. On top of that, his inward-turning eyelid (entropion) constantly irritates his eye, leaving him with discharge and discomfort.

The only way to give Persimmon lasting relief is through surgery to correct both issues. We’ve already spent over $700 on his vet visits, treatments, and prescription food, and now he needs about $1,700 more for these crucial procedures. Persimmon’s ear polyp (causing constant ear infections and extra wax buildup, requiring daily ear cleaning) was just removed! It was HUGE!. He also had an inward eyelid (entropion) that was causing him discomfort and constant eye discharge, fixed!!

1/13/26 Update

Because of you, Persi is no longer suffering in silence.

When Pumpkin’s Rescue Club found him, Persi was sick, starving, and abandoned—likely discarded after being used for breeding. He was battling malnutrition, a painful chronic ear infection, urinary issues, and multiple medical conditions that made everyday life uncomfortable.

Thanks to your support, Persi found safety in a loving foster home and received the veterinary care he desperately needed. His UTI was treated, further diagnostics were completed, and—most importantly—his painful ear polyp and inward-turning eyelid were surgically corrected. These procedures have already made a significant difference in his comfort and quality of life.

Persi still has monitoring and recovery ahead, but because of you, he now has relief, stability, and the chance at the healthy, gentle life he always deserved.
