About this campaign
*Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge*
Peter Pan was terrified after being hit by a car, awaiting amputation surgery for a shattered wrist. Rescued in shock and horrible pain, Peter Pan was suffering from a break in the “wrist” part of his leg that is not repairable due to damage sustained. The bones were crushed and displaced, and our poor little guy was covered in road rash. Peter Pan was so scared, though he remained sweet.
Full body xrays were done as Peter Pan was stabilized, both physically and emotionally. Xrays determined that his wrist is unable to be repaired and fusing the ankle would leave him with a stilted leg. Right now, his shattered wrist is causing him only pain and difficulty walking. Amputation is the only option to allow him full mobility.
Together we can ease his pain, and help him to learn to trust again. At a petite 18 pounds, little Peter Pan is scared and learning to trust again. He is warming up to staff, wagging his tail more each day. He enjoys the company of other dogs, and is beginning to appreciate the tender love humans can offer. This is new to our sweet little guy, who appears to have known too much distress prior
Rescue never sleeps (or takes vacation), and defenseless animals like Peter Pan are in urgent need of emergency medical care. Together, we will continue on – for helpless, deserving animals like Peter Pan, with you by our sides.
