Petey is a 6-year-old Lab/Pit Mix in Baldwin, MI, who needs $900 for Enucleation.

This is Petey. We adopted him from our local shelter when he was 6 weeks old. He lives with me and my two children. Petey’s eye was injured on accident while playing fetch and he went through a surgery to try to save it. But it didn’t work. Now his bad eye is much larger than it should be and the vet is very concerned that it is going to rupture if it is not removed soon.

Petey loves his kids. He sleeps in their beds, getting up throughout the night to check the house out and switches boys at those times. He mopes around and pouts when they leave with grandma until they come home again. He always tells us when there’s someone coming. He has the best temperament I have ever seen in a dog.

As a single mother, Money is often tight. Pandemic grocery prices with 2 growing boys have not helped. I had over half the money saved last year before the pandemic but Petey had a different medical need arise that used everything I saved. This surgery would mean everything!

Peteys bad eye needs removed as soon as possible so it does not rupture and become an emergency surgery. Petey goes to Meyer Vet in Cadillac, Michigan and he loves his doctors there. Typically he alternated between Dr Hughston and Dr Nelson. The surgery will be between $800-$1000 and we just really need some help with it.

The first snow always makes Petey so excited that he is like a young puppy again. He makes us laugh when he’s waiting to see if we are sharing our dinner plates with him— he will refuse to eat his dog food all day until he sees if he’s getting people food or not.
