Petey is a 12-year-old Beagle in Geneva, OH, who needs $600 for Complete Dental and Extractions of Rotting Teeth.

Petey was a stray and when no one came for him, he was in grave danger of being euthanized at a small, overcrowded, underfunded shelter, trying to do its best with limited space and resources. Petey is now safe and has a permanent place to live out his remaining years, surrounded by love, thanks to a wonderful group of people that rescued him and drove him to The Sanctuary.

Petey, despite his pain, has a zest for life, loves humans and canines alike, and has quickly settled into his new life after an initial bout of anxiety. With so many changes, this old man has shown how resilient he can be, once he knows he's safe. He's been a very good patient through all the heartworm treatments and takes his medications like a champ.

Petey's tail never stops waging, even when he's being examined by the vet! Even though his spine, knees, hips and his left rear leg are splayed outward, causing him to walk with a limp and a swagger, he's able to run around in the treatment room at the vet hospital and visit with all the other vets and techs, getting as many treats as he can! He's affectionately called Pistol Petey.

Petey has finally recovered from heartworm disease after many months of treatments, but his rotting teeth now must be extracted and he must be neutered. Dr. Tom Zulandt, owner of Madison Vet Hospital has been treating him.
