Phaedra came to me when I agreed to design a Turkish Angora cattery website and I took her as payment. She was to begin my own TA cattery, but she turned out not to be genetically up to par for that. She's been my companion for the last 13 years (she came to me as a 1 year old.) The tumors began a few years ago, but the vet said they wouldn't hurt her. Unfortunately, the biggest one burst today!

Phaedra's a bit fussy sometimes. A woman with her own mind. When she first came to me, she was scared to death of men. A pizza guy came once, and she bolted up to the top of my bookcases, across the top (without knocking anything over), down to the floor, jettisoned down the hall to my room, across my bed, and the last I saw her for awhile was her butt clearing the headboard to hide under the bed.

I am retired now and living on social security. I 'used' to have a 401k and a house, but the tech stock crash took the 401k and the housing bust took my house. Now I live in a rent-controlled, 1-bed apt and still paying for my mother's storage (she died in 2017).

Phaedra sees a vet at Animal Tales here in St. Joseph, MO. Because she has severe skin allergies that cause her to lick herself bald and then into her skin, she gets a steroid shot once a month, which controls it. She started growing a tumor a few years ago, but now there are LOTS of them! And the 1st one burst today bleeding everywhere. The vet won't take them out without a lot of money.

Whenever I have to use the bathroom, she will wake from a full sleep somewhere in the apartment, and scratch at the door for me to let her in. Then she begs me to pet her. I guess it's one of the few times she can get all my uninterrupted attention. And yes, she waits for the toilet to flush, then gets on the lid and drinks fresh water (even though she has it in a bowl.
