About this campaign

Phoebe was a stray found near my home as a 6-week-old kitten and I immediately fell in love. She had a severe upper respiratory infection and two eye infections at the time that eventually led to her left eye needing to be removed. I live alone and care for her and three other rescued cats on a single income.

Recently, she was diagnosed with a rare congenital condition called a portosystemic shunt. Her vet (MedVet Silicon Valley) recommends a CT scan and surgery with the goal of treating the issue at the source. She has already begun to show signs of hepatic encephalopathy (from the toxins building up in her body).

She has three older kitty siblings in the home and she loves playing and napping with everyone. She is very friendly and loves cuddles even from complete strangers. She always insists on sleeping directly next to my face and purrs so loud it can be heard across the room.

The vet gave us an initial estimate of $14,000-17,500 for the scan and procedure. I live alone and care for her and three other rescued cats on a single income.
This estimate is more than I make over multiple months of working full-time.
