About this campaign
Phoenix came into my life in 2009, as a rescue. He was abandoned in an industrial area and we’ve been together ever since. He had a sister, Mesa, as seen in the video. We lost her to congestive heart failure in December of 2019. Neither of us has recovered from this loss. Mesa and Phoenix are like my children. I named them after cities in Arizona before we moved from Ohio to Arizona.
Phoenix sleeps in the bed and enjoys resting his head on our pillow. He is my family. We reside alone with my cat Buddy, that I inherited when my father passed away. Phoenix loves cooked chicken and hamburger, which he’s getting more of lately. He still enjoys his walks everyday and squeaking his tennis balls.
My income is barely enough to pay rent and bills. I’ve also not recovered financially from treating my other dog, Mesa for her congestive heart failure. I’m not able to get a loan to pay for treatment. I’m hoping to help Phoenix continue to have a good quality of life.
Phoenix was diagnosed with oral osteosarcoma in November 2020. It took some time to get him into the oncologist due to appointment wait time. They offer a palliative radiation treatment that they say will assist with symptoms and pain. He was seen by Dr. Boshoven at Arizona Veterinary Oncology in Gilbert, AZ. His primary vet is DR Hessian, in Fountain Hills.
Phoenix misses his sister Mesa, although they were so different. He has a love hate relationship with Buddy the cat, simply because he doesn’t want to share my attention. He is a social dog but protective of his mom. He loves to swim. He’s been my best friend for eleven years. He loves his stuffed toys and tennis balls.
