Phyllo is a true miracle who beat aggressive oral cancer two years ago. Today, he lives a deeply loved life in Atlanta, spending his days in my home office. He loves to sit outside in his cat tent to watch the world go by and curls up on his window perch near my desk while I work. At night, he hops into bed and burrows under the covers to sleep right against me.

Following an infection, Phyllo’s gums receded, leaving a large portion of his jawbone completely exposed. Every time he tries to eat, it cuts his mouth and causes acute pain. He needs an urgent partial mandibulectomy to remove the non-functional bone so he can survive long-term. We are seeking this lifesaving care at UF Gainesville, the incredible hospital where his original surgery was done.

Phyllo is an absolute fighter. He lays on top of my chest while we watch scary movies and purrs constantly. Even when I have had doubts because I only want what is best for his quality of life, Phyllo uses his high energy, happy attitude, and pure resilience to show me he is not ready to stop fighting. His spirit is completely unbroken, and he acts like a normal, incredibly joyful cat.
