From the moment I held Pigbatbear as a sole survivor, out of 3 she was more than a puppy—she was a second chance at life. Half Rat Terrier, half Australian Shepherd, but 100% my heart. Pigbatbear is my entire world. First, they were sure she had heart failure, blood clots, and more—each ruled out. Now, a splenic mass stands between us and her future. She follows me everywhere, talks with her eyes, and comforts me like she understands every feeling. She’s truly my right hand. Learned sit & give on the first try at fetch. Imprinted on her dad & not me but that was okay. He got all the hype & play. I got all the baths, & bedtimes. Update 3/24/26: The staff at Dutch Fork Animal Hospital in Irmo, SC. Helped PigBatBear to have her surgery. Everything went well. We do not have the results as to whether it was cancer or not but we remain hopeful. She is doing good though & definitely seems to feel a whole lot better. Post-surgery recovery to restrict exercise when she feels a little better proves to be challenging. But thank you everyone that shared or donated. It truly means the world to know that someone cares enough to help.
